Incidence by notification

3.8 A comparison of Figure 3.10 with Figure 3.1 above reveals the extent to which the date of notification lagged behind the date of clinical onset. However, even allowing for this time-lag, Figures 3.11-3.14 show clearly how the BSE epidemic peaked in 1992 in England and Wales, and one year later in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
