4. Uses made of the cattle carcass
Rendering

4.3 Rendering is the processing of discarded parts of animal carcasses to produce two products: meat and bone meal (MBM) and tallow. MBM was used in animal feed and fertiliser (until BSE control measures were introduced), and tallow had a large variety of uses, including in human food, pharmaceutical manufacture, pet food, animal feed and cosmetics. 1
